Hitech GP driver George Russell bounced back from the setbacks of Hungary and Paul Ricard in great fashion, coming away from the Grand Prix du Pau with the highest points haul out of all the drivers, aswell as two podiums that have vaulted him up to 3rd overall in the standings, just 19 points off the summit.

Russell took a double pole in qualifying, his race one pole became 6th after serving a 5 place grid penalty from the previous round.

The opening race in torrid wet conditions saw Russell make progress in the tight streets of Pau, to finish the race in 4th position, narrowly missing out on a podium. Teammate Ben Barnicoat secured back-to-back wins for himself and Hitech GP.

Race two, now in dry conditions saw Russell start from pole, which after a clean getaway saw him take control of proceedings from the front, where he was never headed, claiming pole, fastest lap and his first race win of the season by 2.9s to complete a Grand Slam!

The final race of the weekend saw Russell start from 5th on the grid. After navigating his way around a collision in front, Russell managed to make inroads into the leaders, again taking the fastest lap in the process, on his way to a second podium finish in 3rd position at the chequered flag.

George Russell "All in all we had a very good weekend. Our pace throughout practice was fantastic and that showed in qualifying taking a double pole!
Every race we moved forward which for a street circuit is very difficult and obviously taking probably my most dominant win in single seaters from pole position, setting the fastest lap by quite a margin was fantastic."

"The Red Bull Ring has come at the perfect time next weekend, a track I love and off the back of a massive high. So I can’t wait to keep up the momentum!"
