George ends the last race of 2022 in P5 and claims fourth in the drivers' standings at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

For the final time in 2022, George took his place on the grid, lining up in P6 on a set of fresh Mediums.

As the lights went out, George lost a position to his countryman Lando Norris, dropping him down into P7 and giving the Brit some work to do.

On lap five of the 58-lap race, George swept back by Norris to reclaim the position and set his sights on Lewis Hamilton ahead.

Getting by his teammate and into P5, George maintained his position until lap 16 when he pitted for the Hard tyres and re-joined in P9.

Unfortunately, the Brit picked up a five-second penalty for an unsafe release as he exited his pit box into the path of Norris.

George put his fresh tyres to good use, setting the fastest lap and moving up into P6 after the first round of pit stops before making a move on Sebastian Vettel and into P5.

A late pit stop for Sergio Perez on lap 34 promoted George into P4 and on the fringes of the podium places.

On lap 40, George made his second stop to serve his penalty, donning the Mediums and re-emerging in P9.

The Brit quickly made up two positions, setting another fastest lap to move into P6 with 14 laps remaining.

As the laps ticked down, George maintained his position until a late mechanical issue for his teammate Hamilton caused him to drop back and inevitably retire, moving George into P5 where he ended the last race of the year.

This could have almost been a memorable race, but we probably got more wrong than right today. We didn't have the pace this weekend and tried as hard as we could, but this was actually one of the toughest races of the season for us. It's a shame how the race panned out for me - I had a strong start fighting Carlos, but with the long first pit-stop and the five-second penalty meant the race was over for me.
This race brought us back to reality, after our high in Brazil at a track that suited our car much better. Today simply highlighted what we already knew: that we have lots of improvements to make during the winter. Everyone in the team in Brackley and Brixworth is pushing as hard as they can and we're headed in the right direction. And we are confident, we will have a stronger car next year.
